Yield
present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life.
In my devotions this week the Lord reminded me of the importance and significance of yielding myself wholly to Him. And I would like to share it with you.
Romans 6:13 “Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.”
As an act of worship and obedience to the Lord, it is our responsibility to yield ourselves to God. It is an act of surrendering and submitting to God’s divine will.
Following Jesus’ example, you are to yield to God’s will, not your own.
“Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.’” (Matthew 26:39)
Yielding signifies humility to God.
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” (Romans 12:1)
The act of Mary, Lazarus’ sister is an example of yielding to God. She spent a year’s salary to buy a perfume which she poured out on Jesus’ feet (John 12:1-8).
BTW: One of my favorite scenes from The Chosen:
Others objected to her actions, saying that it was a waste. But this was an act of worship and gratitude to Jesus. Her eyes were open to the real worth and value of Jesus. To her nothing was more valuable than Him. She yielded all to Him.
Have you ever given too much to the Lord? Have you given your all? In order to know the full satisfaction that Jesus offers, you must yield all, even your most precious possessions at the feet of the Lord Jesus. Until you do, you will never experience the peace that only He gives.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)
When you seek to satisfy the Lord at all costs, then you will experience Him. You must have a willingness to yield, a breaking and a pouring out of everything to Him.
Why did Lazarus not object to Mary’s pouring out the expensive oil? Because he too knew who Jesus was and His infinite worth. He had just experienced being brought back to life.
You must come to this place in your walk with the Lord. For, He has brought you back to life. “yield yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life.”
Yield yourself to Him. Yield your body, yield your mind, yield your soul. Yield ALL to Him!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
To Behold means to see or gaze upon. Yielding can be seen. As we yield ourselves to the Lord others will see and smell something in us. A sweet fragrance of Christ will fill the room. And others will say, “You smell like Jesus.”
