Slander & reproach
November 21
He will bring forth your righteousness like the dawn, your justice like the noonday sun. Psalm 37:6
Does it seem to you that the wicked in this world succeed and are the only ones who are truly happy? We are told not to fret or be envious of those who do wrong. They may even slander you or attack your character, but we are to refrain from revenge. We are not to get upset with the things that transpire in this life. We are to do what is right and good, and to keep our reputation honorable. The reproaches, the mockery, and the slanders of others, will not crush us if we trust in God.
If we will commit our ways to the Lord, He will protect our character. What will be the result of God working? Your good reputation has been hidden, but it will shine forth like the sun rising out of the darkness of night; your integrity has been obscured, but it will be clear as the full light of the noonday. That is, God will cause justice to be done for your reputation. The darkness of night will not last, but “the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings” (Malachi 4:2).
